FINANCIAL REPORT

  • SPLOST AND LOST:  SPLOST and LOST revenue shown in the report dated March 31, 2025 reflect collections made in March and remitted to Gordon County in April of 2025. For that period, SPLOST collections were $1,200,365.26 which is a $76,503.08 (6.37%) decrease over the same period last year. LOST collections were $732,097.68 which is a $46,789.03 (6.01%) decrease over the same period last year.
  • BUDGET:  Budget meetings were held with all Department Heads and Elected Officials over the period of April 16 to May 1.

SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITY

  • ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:  The Development Authority met last week and reviewed numerous proposals from industrial prospects looking at Gordon County. A developer has filed a Notice of intent for a Development of Regional Impact for Gordon Industrial/BPG Logistics Park located on Trimble Hollow Road. This location already has industrial zoning and the developer is required to improve Trimble Hollow Road at the developer’s expense.
  • E-911 Banquet and Awards:  E-911held its annual awards banquet on April 16. We thank Family Savings Credit Union for donating the food and Whitfield County E-911 for taking Gordon County calls so that all telecommunicators could attend.
  • SAFETY COMMITTEE:  Stacy Long hosted her second safety committee meeting since taking over in Risk Management.
  • MARTHA WHITE:  Congratulations Martha White on her retirement from the Tax Commissioner’s office.
  • REDBONE RIDGES:  Georgia EPD inspected the landfill on April 15, 2025 and found the facility in full compliance with its permit and rules.
  • PROJECTS:
    • Intersection at Lovers Lane and Dews Pond Roads. Engineers performing a traffic study and intersection design study to bring recommendations on designs, costs and possible State funding.
    • Multi-Purpose Facility. We met with City Engineers to discuss feasibility of sewer service for the facility.
    • Mount Olive. All necessary easements acquired and call with Contractor for start date in late summer.
    • Morgue. Geo-Hydro is complete. Pending Plans and GMP proposal.
    • Ranger. Playground equipment is under consideration tonight.

    • September 1, 2025 Submit the tax digest
    • October 2025 Tax bills are mailed out
    • December 2025 Tax bills will be due
